TVM attracts record audience during last Sunday’s X Factor Malta
Television Malta reached a new highlight in audience viewing with last Sunday’s transmission of X Factor Malta with research showing it had reached a record 180,000 televiewers.
Research carried out by Dr Vincent Marmara among 300 persons who were telephone-interviewed between Monday and Tuesday this week resulted with 61% responding that people following this programme always or nearly always, view it.
56.5% or 220,000 people in Malta said they often viewed X Factor Malta while Gozitans are the keenest followers because 75% of those interviewed affirmed they had at least seen one transmission of the 15 transmitted so far.
This first edition of X Factor Malta has acquired popularity in all age strata but is particularly popular among those aged 16 to 25 who further affirmed that the programme’s productions were of a high quality. It is estimated that the programme has attracted 30,000 people who previously did not follow TVM programmes.
The PBS Board of Directors expressed satisfaction for the success the programme has attained in terms of viewership as well as its high quality level and its commercial sustainability. X Factor, which is a format of Syco Entertainment, is co-produced and licenced worldwide by FremantleMedia Limited. X Factor Malta is co-produced by PBS and MintMedia.
The next show scheduled with eight participants will be transmitted this Sunday and will climax on Saturday, 26th January, when the winner among the four finalists will be selected by votes of televiewers and will be announced, the winner going on to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest.
